Abused Awareness is a non-profit organization focused on child abuse, working to reduce its occurrence, and increase its reporting, by finding the gaps in current approaches to the problem and working to close them.
Abused Awareness seeks to make a difference, to help directly or indirectly as many children as possible.
In The News
It is sad to say that there are just too many news stories to list them here every day.
It is important though that you see just how much news and activity there is out there:
Remember it is estimated that 88% of abuse goes unreported!
It is the horrific accounts of child sexual abuse that have lead me to form this organization and to do something, no matter how small it seems right now.
Just as other forms of physical abuse, sexual abuse leaves permanent mental scars on a child's mind - but the sexual abuse scars can go far deeper.
I have been 'aware' for some years, having read Vachss' account of his first encounter with child sexual abuse, but the sickening details regarding Jimmy Savile in the UK, of whom I was a big child fan, spurned me to do something; to take the first step on a path and see where it takes me.
